Two videos from Saris.com about the prologe in the Tour of California 2008.
Checking in with Allen Lim, PhD at the Tour of California
Tour of California Prologue Analysis with Allen Lim, PhD
Data from these two videos:
Tom Peterson did 4:11 with average power of 369 watts. They also calculated based on his CdA that he needed 369 watts for 4:11
Tom Danielson did also 4:11 but with an average power of 390 watts and according to the calculation of Allen Lim he needed 378 watts average power.
For David Millar the difference between calculated power and real average power was huge. I did 3:59 with 501 watts but according to the calculations he only needed 440 watts.
Assuming body weight of Tom P, Tom D and David as being 62.5kg, 61kg, 76kg respectively. They have an impressive 4 minute power:
Tom P: 5.9 w/kg
Tom D: 6.4 w/kg
David: 6.6 w/kg
From the spreadsheet Allen Lim uses we see that:
Tom D had a CdA of 0.2203 on his disco bike and a CdA of 0.2193 on his new Felt B2.
| Quote: |
Tom Danielson baseline on disco 0.2203
Tom Danielson baseline on Felt B2 0.2193
Tom D -2 cm down from baseline 0.2178
Tom D -4 cm down from baseline 0.212?
Tom D -5.5cm down from basseline 0.2136
